- Hippo Bar, 9pm EVERY WEDNESDAY (program). Canberra's premier jazz venue on Wednesday nights. See touring jazz players and bands formed around teachers and students from the CSM Jazz school. - Hotel Kurrajong, 5.30pm EVERY FRIDAY. Longstanding after-work gig featuring the staff of the CSM Jazz School at a posh but inviting local pub. Smooth and accomplished. Mingle with Liberal Party apparatchiks and PM&C staffers. Recommended, longstanding. Free entry, but don't drink too heavily. (Last updated May 2007)

- George Harcourt Inn. Pleasant beer garden which used to feature local bands on Sunday afternoons. Free entry and some interesting beers. (Last updated Apr 2008)
